THE POP GROUP is very happy to announce that we have been accepted into the 2012 SummerWorks Festival.

According to CLUTCH PR’s website, THE POP GROUP will be joining Daniel MacIvor, Sean Dixon, Brendan Healey, Richard Greenblatt, Sarah StanleyNicolas Billon, Daniel Karasik, Erin Shields, Chris Hanratty and many many others, and we couldn’t be more excited!

UPDATE: After a bizarre glitch with our e-mail account that made us think we had forfeited our spot inadvertently, we have received confirmation of our participation directly from SummerWorks, so it’s official! (Thanks, Lucy!)

We’ll be working with the team that we’ve had in place for the past year of development: REBECCA BUTTIGIEG‘s script, FIERCE MONSTERS, will be directed by JODY HEWSTON and performed by MARGARET EVANS and LAURA NORDIN. We are in the process of putting together the rest of our team, talking to a crack-shot producer and set and sound designers.

Here is the full SummerWorks 2012 line-up.

Outside of SummerWorks, we’re getting ready to shoot a music video for WILL CURRIE & THE COUNTRY FRENCH, somewhat inspired by one of my favorite videos from the nineties, Age of Electric’s Ugly:

And over the next week we’ll be putting the finishing touches on the trailer for THE RETURN OF THE JOHNSON SIBS, which is actually going to be two videos: A short, one-to-two minute trailer and a longer Introduction to The Johnson Sibs-type teaser. And then we’ll get on to the business of actually raising the cash and shooting the web series this summer. THE JOHNSON SIBS will also star MARGARET EVANS, along with REBECCA BUTTIGIEG, JORDAN KANNER and RODRIGO FERNANDEZ-STOLL, with new music by MURRAY FOSTER. It is being written and directed by JODY HEWSTON and will be shot by JIM TEEVAN.

There’s a lot going on, so stay tuned for updates! (And we’ll make sure to keep them coming…)
