At THE POP GROUP we believe in knowing our enemies. With that in mind and with SummerWorks upon us, we have asked some of our competition (a/k/a Those other shows…) to tell us what the hell makes them so special.
We requested from them a photo, an elevator pitch and a favorite line from the show.
First up, BIG PLANS, from TWO-WHEELER PRODUCTIONS (in association with FREESTANDING PRODUCTIONS). It’s written by JEREMY TAYLOR, directed by TANNER HARVEY, and features KARL GRABOSHAS, LENI PARKER, and ANDY TRITHARDT, who you may remember from this FIERCE MONSTERS promo, and whose name looks like it sounds like “Andy Try-too-hard.”
“I’m not trying to compensate for anything!”
Basically, the show is a fictionalized version of the true story of the Rotenburg Cannibal, who managed to find someone who was willing to be killed and eaten. The play exposes the bleak and empty natures of these two very different men as they try desperately to fill the void in their lives. And it’s a comedy. It’s hilarious. It’s the feel-good cannibal hit of SummerWorks 2012 for sure.
Okay, that actually sounds kind of awesome. But still: They’re the enemy, so when I go see this play I will boo, if silently, when it ends.
BIG PLANS is playing at HUB 14. Click on the name of the play anywhere in this post to buy tickets. And also, click HERE to buy tickets to FIERCE MONSTERS, produced by THE POP GROUP and up at The Lower Ossington Theatre.
